Aerobic training – the story of its origins
Aerobics was developed in the 1960s as an aerobic workout to strengthen the lungs, heart and circulatory system by the US sports doctor and former U.S. Air Force major Kenneth H. Cooper. The doctor triggered a real fitness boom in the United States with his new fitness program for women and even men. In 1982, aerobics was achieved, among others, by the American actress Jane Fonda, which brought about a systematic marketing of dynamic fitness training.
What should I watch out for if I want to start aerobics at home?
It is important that you warm up well for a few minutes before training so that your body can slowly reach operating temperature by increasing the oxygen supply and the elasticity of your muscles. Since you cannot approach an aerobics instructor at home who can explain possible errors, you should try to do all exercises slowly and correctly as a beginner.
Take a close look at all exercises and try to carry them out initially, regardless of the program, so that you can internalize the sequence of movements. If you are familiar with the exercises, you can start aerobics for home programs. But don’t overdo it here either. Set realistic goals, such as half an hour to three quarters of an hour of aerobics once a week in your own four walls. If you have completed these units regularly for 1-2 months, you can increase the number or length of the training units. So your body can slowly get used to the training intensity and the muscles and joints adjust to the stress.
If you are too motivated to train, aerobic exercise at home, especially for untrained people, can easily lead to overloads. Please also note that after an intensive fitness training in your own home, you always follow a phase of relaxation and do not immediately jump into the shower.
